Xerox rebadges Epson printers in the UK
20 December 2007
If you live and work in the UK, you may be forgiven the surprise when you see two new Xerox printers that look identical to the Epson Stylus Pro 7880 (24 inch) and 9880 (44 inch) machines – they are Epson machines with Xerox badges on them.
Xerox was one of the pioneers of the wide format printing industry but they used electrostatic technology. The technology could not compete in the photo market as history confirms.
The new co-branding of the Epson machines could be a smart move by Epson to consolidate its leading position in the photographic reproduction and print proofing industries. Not surprising as Canon and HP are giving Epson some very good competition.
