22 July 2010
A new graffiti protection solution has arrived in Australia and New Zealand.
Called G-Shield Premium, the product is designed specifically for non-porous substrates such as signs, metals, painted surfaces, vinyl, plastics, etc. It is a thin transparent non-sacrificial coating that not only protects against graffiti, but also is a anti-corrosive coating protecting against UV light and not allowing oxidisation of painted surfaces.

G-Shield Premium has been developed by Kion Specialty Polymers in the US ( A Clarient Business,Germany) and is distributed throughout Australia by SureSeal Solutions Unlimited ( Graffiti Division of Sure Seal Sealants).
Carlo Boladian, a director of SureSeal Solutions Unlimited Pty Ltd told Wide Format Online that the product has been used around the world successfully but one of the more notably applications was to solve the graffiti problem being experienced by German rail company Deutsche Bahn. Graffiti was costing the company up to $77 million per year to repair affected trains from graffiti damage. The need for resistance against such vandalism was addressed by the treatment of the train interior and exterior with G-Shield anti-graffiti coating.
Deutsche Bahn found G-Shield to be extremely economical and created a cost saving of approximately 60% by saving time, material and labour to remove graffiti. They found that just one litre can coat up to 80 square metres.
