Romano Bacci appointed as Mutoh Australia MD as Cavenagh takes strategic role
Mutoh Australia has announced the appointment of Romano Bacci (pictured left) as its new Managing Director, effective immediately, reinforcing the company’s commitment to quality, reliability, and long-term support for the Australian and New Zealand print markets. Long-serving MD, Russell Cavenagh (right), will move into a new role as General Manager, Special Projects, where he will focus on key strategic initiatives, while continuing to support ongoing Mutoh business development.
Whilst this carefully-planned change at the helm is not directly linked to the recent acquisition of Mutoh Holdings by Brother Industries, there is obvious merit in Cavenagh being able to stand alongside the Mutoh Australia business a little more, whilst the company’s continued day-to-day success is led by Bacci, who himself brings significant experience to the role.
Cavenagh says: “I’m extremely proud of my tenure as MD, having helped to firmly establish the Mutoh brand as delivering exceptional quality and reliability, both in terms of the Japanese-engineered products themselves, as well as in the development of a strong customer-focused service and support function to back the Mutoh name up. Romano and I have been working together both in and on the business over the last 12 months and I’m extremely confident to be now passing the metaphorical reins over to him, as I start an exciting new opportunity towards what the future of Mutoh looks like as a Brother Group company.”
Bacci, formerly enjoying leadership roles at Epson Australia, assumes the Mutoh Australia MD role with a strong focus on industry engagement, customer outcomes, and sustainable growth. He will lead Mutoh Australia’s strategic direction, working closely with dealers and customers across the signage, graphics, textile, and industrial print sectors.
Bacci adds: “Mutoh’s Japanese heritage is built on engineering excellence and long-term product integrity. My priority is to ensure those values are clearly reflected in how we continue to support the local market – through reliable technology, strong dealer partnerships, and responsive service that helps print businesses operate with confidence.”
Mutoh Australia operates as part of the global Mutoh Group, (now owned by Brother International) headquartered in Japan and internationally recognised for its precision engineering and manufacturing standards. Mutoh’s wide format technology is a brand designed and manufactured in Japan, with an emphasis on accuracy, durability, and consistency – qualities that continue to underpin the brand’s reputation worldwide.
This appointment serves to reinforce Mutoh Japan’s intent to build on its established market position by combining Japanese engineered technology with locally focused leadership and support.
