A ceremonial laying of the cornerstone for its new ‘Hall 14’ production facility at its Oranienburg headquarters, marked the commencement of the next major milestone in Orafol’s long-term growth strategy. The new production hall is part of the company-wide ORAFOL Roadmap 2030 – Shaping the Future, through which the company has committed to circa €235 million worth of targeted investments in the expansion of production capacities, new technologies, and international locations.

The new Hall 14 is being constructed in the southwestern section of the main Orafol plant and, due to the unique geometry of the property essentially running alongside the street, the new building will be divided into two sections of varying lengths, thereby making optimal use of the available space.

With an overall footprint of around 4,835 m² and gross floor area of 7,595 m², at the heart of the new facility will be highly functional production areas with a total floor area of more than 2,400m². The facility’s structure will see approximately 600 precast reinforced concrete elements and is precisely tailored to the future plant technology of Orafol, complemented by a compact, three-story office wing on the west side of the structure. Naturally lit office and hallway areas create modern working conditions and complement the functional production spaces.

Dr. Holger Loclair, Chairman & CEO of the ORAFOL Group, says: “In 1995, we laid the first cornerstone here on this site – back then under the motto: ‘a dream comes true.’ Today we can say this dream continues and we can be proud that Orafol never waited for so-called thriving landscapes to emerge: we began building them ourselves, step by step and Hall by Hall.”

Minister-President Dr. Dietmar Woidke adds: “Every day, the Orafol team demonstrates how highly automated manufacturing can successfully operate at the cutting edge of technology. As one of the region’s most important employers, Orafol also assumes outstanding social responsibility within our community…I wish the company continued success, innovative spirit, and prosperity in the years ahead.”

Since reunification, the company has evolved from a former state-owned enterprise of the GDR into the most successful industrial family business in Eastern Germany, now with 19 subsidiaries and 33 locations worldwide and directly employing 3,000 people globally.

Since 1995, the headquarters in Oranienburg has been expanded almost without interruption, with more than €800 million euros invested in it over the past three decades. With the new Hall 14 production area, Orafol is specifically backing its Oranienburg headquarters as the group’s global technology centre and underscoring the confidence it places in Brandenburg as an industrial location for its own long-term technological direction.
