The Visual Media Association (VMA) has extended entries for the major categories of the 2026 National Print Awards (NPA) until Thursday 24th April, with a particular call out to Australia’s print community to ‘recognise our industry’s local heroes’.

The NPA major categories, to which this extension applies, include the Emerging Talent of the Year, Industry Woman of the Year, Industry Employee of the Year, as well as the Industry Supplier of the Year, Workplace Culture and Wellbeing Achievement and Environmental Sustainability Achievement.

Kellie Northwood, Chief Executive Officer of the NPA program administrators, Visual Media Association, says: :The individual categories amongst these major awards are specifically trying to find the local heroes across print businesses, from printers through to roles in prepress, estimating, customer service, scheduling, finishing, dispatch, installation and administration.”

And as if more incentive than peer recognition on a national scale was needed, this year’s individual award recipients – for the Emerging Talent, Woman of Industry, and Employee of the Year – will be included in an upcoming UK Print Industry study tour, travelling to the UK for a week-long professional development experience, including attendance at The Print Show in Birmingham (29 Sept – 1 Oct).and visits to selected UK printers, suppliers and technology partners.

Northwood adds: “These nominations are about people, speaking honestly about what you do, how someone has shown up in your business or for your business, showing your team’s achievements or sharing initiatives, whether that’s a family day, a men’s shed partnership, a wellbeing program or something unique to your business. We are looking for you to provide the kind of honest, personal insight that will resonate with our judges.”

Entries across the other major categories include sustainability initiatives from a business perspective, culture and wellbeing programs in the workplace, community initiatives or employment pathways with gender equity programs or closing the gap initiatives. All entries will be assessed on demonstrated impact, with judges seeking submissions that are clearly communicated, well-evidenced and supported by relevant material, including images, video and supporting documentation.

Northwood adds: “All these ‘majors’ are judged at the end of this month by the VMA Board, providing the highest level of recognition within the program, acknowledging individual achievement, business performance and initiatives that contribute to the broader development of the industry.”

The National Print Awards are supported by Platinum Sponsors HP and Currie Group, alongside Gold sponsors Fujifilm, CMYKHub, Ball & Doggett, Plockmatic Group and Renz, Ricoh Australia, Konica Minolta, Spicers and Spectra, with media partner Print21 supporting the Print21 Printer of the Year Award.
