Heidelberg’s simple AI message: ‘Stop Searching, Start Asking’

Heidelberg AI_edit

With the use of artificial intelligence (AI) advancing rapidly in the printing industry, Heidelberg has decided to cut out the middle man and take AI matters – at least where they relate to print analysis – into its own hands. An expanded Heidelberg Portal now incorporates a new AI feature: the HEIDELBERG AI Performance Chat, which is already available worldwide to all current Print Shop Analytics customers

Jürgen Grimm, Head of Software at Heidelberg, says: “With the HEIDELBERG AI Performance Chat, we’re making the handling of production data significantly more intuitive. Our customers can ask exactly the questions that concern them in their day-to-day work – and get the answers they need right away. It’s intuitive, saves time, and helps them make informed decisions faster.”

Launched under the motto ‘Stop Searching, Start Asking’, the new Chatbot enables users to ask direct questions directly and receive precise answers immediately, in a conversational format, which previously might have required them to source and wade through mountains of reports and dashboards.

Heidelberg’s comprehensive Print Analytics platform has been available for the last four years, but HEIDELBERG AI Performance Chat is expected to significantly enhance both the accessibility and usability of the platform. Where the Insights App already aggregates key metrics such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), productivity, makeready times, and waste, making production performance transparent, the addition of AI functionality will enable users to analyse production data on demand and to deliver the results in an immediately understandable format – as tables, charts, and with clear explanations. Whether it’s the performance development of individual machines, a comparison of shifts, or deviations over specific time periods: the relevant information will be available in a matter of seconds.

The HEIDELBERG AI Performance Chat is available worldwide in over 18 languages and is fully integrated into the HEIDELBERG Portal. The new feature addresses key industry challenges such as increasing time pressure, complex production environments, and the growing shortage of skilled workers. The goal is to further simplify data-driven decision-making and sustainably increase efficiency in print production.
